Three generations of one family, designing and building furniture and interiors in Chennai since 1970.

Late K.A. Kutty

Began servicing old furniture in the late 1970s and built it into a workshop of his own.

Mr. K.A. Kutty, originally from Kerala, began pursuing his passion for crafting good furniture in the late 1970s, starting out by servicing old furniture, sofas and other pieces. From there, he began supplying furniture to Chellaram Private Limited, an opportunity that grew into a workshop of his own. With a strong team and sharp skill behind him, he secured the contract to refurbish the iconic Rajah Annamalai Hall, and his Oliver Deluxe Sofa Set is still spotted in homes and films today. He passed away in 2010, and the workshop passed to his son, C. Ramesh, already trained at his side.

Trained on the production floor, then added a diploma in interior design and CAD.

C. Ramesh started his journey very young, training hands-on on the production floor, the same way K.A. Kutty had learned the business himself. He built on that with a diploma in Interior Design and Computer-Aided Design, which opened up a new perspective: customized furniture, interior design, renovation and construction, backed by real 2D and 3D drawings. Pairing that formal training with traditional workshop methods, he brought a contemporary edge to the craft. Today, as CEO and Principal Designer, he is also Chennai Chapter President of the Furniture Fittings Skill Council of India and Club President of the Rotary Club of Chennai Sarvam.

K. Abhishek, third generation at Kutties Wood Crafts
Third generation

K. Abhishek

Master's from Cardiff Metropolitan University, UK, with project experience in Mumbai, Bangalore and Chennai.

Read the story

K. Abhishek brings a sharp eye for modern, contemporary design paired with a genuine curiosity for how spaces actually work. A Master's from Cardiff Metropolitan University, UK, sharpened that instinct further, and hands-on work across projects in Mumbai, Bangalore and Chennai has taught him the ground realities of execution: coordinating design, materials and site work to actually get things done. His aim with every project stays simple: make the space look aesthetic and functional, without losing sight of what the client actually needs.

"Every project we take on is different. Every design is built around its own challenge, and most of the work we do is the kind that's hard to execute well."
